Welcome at the website of "Fort bij Spijkerboor", about an early 20th century fortification near Spijkerboor, a small settlement at the canal crossing in the south-western part of the scenic dutch Beemsterpolder. The Fortification is both a nature preservative and a UNESCO world cultural heritage site. It is guarded by volunteers. The environment, the Beemsterpolder is a UNESCO world curltural heritage site in itself, hence quite unique to be in both at one time.
